March 2021 Virtual SLV TU Meeting

Thanks to the twenty folks, primarily from the SLV, who joined our fourth virtual SLVTU meeting in March.  The slate of candidates listed in the March newsletter (now shown on the first page of this newsletter) was unanimously elected.  Welcome to our newest board members, Don Spencer (newsletter editor) and Bradley Powers (fundraising/auction)!  The program for this meeting featured members sharing information about favorite/influential books.  In case you weren’t able to attend the meeting, here is a list of the books mentioned:

“My Story as Told By Water”, by David James Duncan
“Into the Backing”, edited by Lamar Underwood
“The Earth is Enough”, by Harry Middleton
“No Shortage of Good Days”, by John Gierach
“Basic Fly Tying”, by Charlie Craven
“Blue Lines – A Fishing Life”, by Tom Reed
“Little Red Book of Fly Fishing”, by Kirk Deeter and Charlie Myers
“The Painter” and “The River”, both by Peter Heller
“True Grit”, by Charles Portis
“A Good Life Wasted”, by Dave Ames
“Royal Wulff Murders”, by Keith McCafferty
“Late in an Angler’s Life”, by Gordon Wickstrom

“Eager – Why Beavers Matter”, by Ben Goldfarb
“Trout and Salmon of North America”, by Robert Behnke

The books all sounded interesting, and we encourage you to add one or more to your collection!

In addition to these books, a video entitled “The Underwater World of Trout” by Wendel (Ozzie) Ozefovich and a magazine entitled “The Drake” were both mentioned as influential to members.
