LEARNING ON THE RIVER
Special thanks to our President, Mark, and two other members (mentioned below) for helping a few Del Norte High School Students learn about some of the science of fly fishing! Mark writes: It was the final day of class for the Aquaponics class at Del Norte High School. They had a Trout In the Classroom project last year (and will again this year) as part of the class. I had been in contact with the teacher Nikki Horrocks regarding their TIC project. Nikki ask if some chapter members could help with teaching fly casting, fly fishing and stream invertebrate identification so Doug, Ian and I helped out with it. It was fun and the students were great as was Nikki. After the streamside outing Nikki took us on a tour of the new Del Norte High School and the Aquaponics classroom which was all very interesting and appreciated. The new school is great.
