What a difference from last April! A year ago we were all just hoping for one big snow storm to give us a little relief from a very dry winter. That storm never materialized and we endured one of the driest summers in years. This April we are looking at a snowpack well above average and the potential of an amazing runoff. This is great news, but we can’t let one good water year allow us to become complacent. Our fish and rivers still need all the help we can give them. With threats coming from many directions as well as a changing climate we must be diligent in the protection of our precious resources.

It has been a great spring so far and hopefully some of you have been able to get out on the water. We’ve had some warm weather but not so warm that the snow is melting too quickly. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that this pattern continues.

Our chapter’s Annual Fundraiser Auction is coming up on Saturday April 27th. Many of our members have been working hard to get donations and they’ve done a great job getting some incredible stuff! Our Auction Coordinator, Deacon Aspinwall, has been super busy getting it all organized. We will have our final auction planning meeting on Tuesday of next week. If you have any donations for the auction please let Deacon know ASAP so he can get them on the inventory. We are excited about our new venue in the Plachy Hall Fieldhouse at Adam State University and look forward to the appetizers from Colorado Grille and Tap House. We are fortunate to have Brady Stagner donating his auctioneering talents to help us out again this year. Everyone that has seen Brady in action knows how much he brings to the event. All in all it will be a fun event!

We have some great volunteer opportunities coming up this summer so please take a look at the dates on the first page of the newsletter and consider helping out for any amount of time you can spare. Contact any of the board members (phone numbers on the first page) for more information about these opportunities

Thanks for taking a look at our newsletter. I hope to see all of you that can make it at the auction!
