Welcome to our April Newsletter. First, I want to thank Don Spencer for joining our Board of Directors as the newsletter editor. This is Don’s first newsletter and I can speak for the entire board in telling Don we greatly appreciate his willingness to take on the position! While I’m on the subject of the board I want to encourage anyone that has an interest is serving on the board to contact me or any of the board members. I’m sure you are tired of hearing this from me but I probably won’t quit bugging you! We have several vacant positions and this is my last year as president so it would be great to have some new folks on the board with fresh ideas and energy. Thank you for considering a board position.
With the Rio Grande basin at around 79% of average it would be great if we could get a big storm or two this month to boost our snowpack. Fortunately, the weather has stayed relatively cool and that certainly helps. It’s certainly been a windy April so far but hopefully some of you have been able to get out and fish a bit.
Conejos River Anglers held their annual Superfly event April 9th – 11th and although I haven’t heard a full report it sounds like it was their most successful event to date. The proceeds are donated to the chapter and we benefit greatly from this event. On behalf of the board and the chapter membership I want to thank Pat and all of the crew at CRA for their hard work in pulling off the event year after year. Thanks guys!!
We have some great volunteer opportunities coming up this summer so please take a look at the dates on the first page of the newsletter and consider helping out for any amount of time you can spare. Other project workdays are being planned and we will notify everyone as soon has we have the plans confirmed.
Thanks for taking a look at our newsletter and supporting us. I hope to see some of you at the virtual meeting on April 27th, it’s going to be a good one.
