A Word From The President

As I write this and look across the valley from my home in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, it is great to see a new winter storm brewing. The snowpack in the Rio Grande basin is around 90%, a far cry from this same time last year but we still need more! February, March and April can all be great snow months so I remain hopeful. It was great to see some of the regulars and some new faces brave the cold and come to our January meeting. The program provided by chapter members Jan Crawford and Jim Loud sure made it worth the trip. Jim and Jan’s program, “Fishing the Amazon” was not only a great fishing story but a great travel story too!! Thanks Jim and Jan for putting a great program together for us.We have recently secured a new venue for our Annual Fundraiser Auction on Saturday April 21th. The auction will be held at Plachy Fieldhouse on the campus of Adams State University in Alamosa. We are starting the process of acquiring donations for the auction so if you can donate or know of someone that can please contact one of the board members whose phone numbers are on the front of the newsletter. Just getting one item for our auction it is a great help to us and we greatly appreciate it.We are starting to add volunteer work days to our Calendar of Events section in the newsletter so check it and add the dates to your calendar too. We also have a couple of more developing projects that will include work days and as soon as these are confirmed and we have dates we’ll let you know more about them add them to the calendar as well.

Thanks for your support!
